PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rammsie Hartmann (ranked 1796 p4p, 2969 weight class) and Korn Gracie (ranked 273 p4p, 417 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rammsie Hartmann!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Korn Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.

Gracie ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hartmann moves away.
Hartmann throws a body kick that misses.
Gracie fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hartmann manages to avoid it.
Hartmann tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gracie swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gracie misses with the combination.

Gracie feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hartmann wants to get back to his feet but Gracie is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Hartmann really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Gracie throws a big elbow that misses.
Gracie controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hartmann working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Gracie.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rammsie Hartmann seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hartmann gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Gracie.
Hartmann scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Hartmann throws a right and a left that both miss.
And Gracie tries to counter it with a takedown but Hartmann pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Hartmann scores with a decent looking hook.

Hartmann will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Gracie unleashes a big counter combination but Hartmann bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gracie.
Hartmann lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Gracie doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Hartmann counters with a stiff right hand.
Gracie looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hartmann is fending him off so far but Gracie persists. Nope, Hartmann circles away and we're back to standing.
Rammsie Hartmann has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Korn Gracie.
Gracie shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hartmann pinned against the cage. Hartmann gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Horrible takedown attempt by Gracie or perhaps it was just good defense by Hartmann, which made it look bad.
We've been told by Hartmann's head coaches at UnderGround BJJ & MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Gracie fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Hartmann checks it well.
Hartmann fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Gracie on the side of the head.
Sloppy strikes from Hartmann. Those never looked like landing.
Gracie swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Hartmann counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Gracie tries to bum rush Hartmann with a series of wild strikes but Hartmann uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gracie doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hartmann lands a slapping body shot.

Hartmann moves into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rammsie Hartmann dominated that round.
That's time! Hartmann's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Hartmann tries to clinch there but Gracie circles away.
Gracie throws a right and a left that Hartmann avoids nicely.
Gracie looks to land a combination but Hartmann avoids it well.
Hartmann tries to clinch up but Gracie circles away and keeps his distance.
Gracie feints the counter takedown.
Gracie throws a predictable looking body shot
and Hartmann counters with a nice uppercut.
Hartmann swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A countering left hand to the body from Gracie misses.
Hartmann walks into a left hand.
Hartmann tries to close the distance and clinch but Gracie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

It looked like Hartmann was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Hartmann punishes Gracie's body with a nice straight punch.

Hartmann fails with an attempt to clinch.
Gracie changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Rammsie Hartmann is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Gracie shoots in but no luck this time.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hartmann looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Despite the aggression on Gracie's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Gracie tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hartmann swivels and escapes.

and Hartmann counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hartmann.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gracie is on top in guard.

Gracie throws an elbow that misses. Hartmann uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Gracie's guard. Nice move by Hartmann!

Hartmann chips away with some ground and pound.

Gracie is rocked!
Hartmann gets to his feet and stands over Gracie, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Gracie felt that one! Hartmann unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Gracie from any more punishment!
