PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between William Lati (ranked 3005 p4p, 2542 weight class) and Lucky L�vesque (ranked 358 p4p, 299 weight class). Lati comes into the arena with Ye- Burna Boy blaring out of the sound system. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, William Lati!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lucky L�vesque !
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.

Lati looks to score with a jab to the body but L�vesque is just out of range.
Lati throws an overhand right that lands on L�vesque 's shoulder, as L�vesque tries to avoid the shot.
L�vesque connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
L�vesque shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lati as he jumps to the side.
L�vesque moves out of range as Lati strikes.
Lati throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
so L�vesque counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
L�vesque is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
L�vesque won't allow Lati to sweep him here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
L�vesque not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Lati knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for L�vesque on the ground.
L�vesque slips nicely into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
L�vesque wants to pass the guard but Lati is defending well.
L�vesque thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lati's head.
L�vesque moves nicely into side control.
Lati is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, L�vesque asserts his dominance and retains side control.

L�vesque wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lati, who protects the arm well.
L�vesque staying calm.

L�vesque tries to move to mount but Lati blocks the move with his legs.
L�vesque in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Lati is trying to control L�vesque 's posture but L�vesque avoids it.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
L�vesque content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
L�vesque blocks the strikes from Lati.
Lati being controlled for a moment.
L�vesque working the ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Lati is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
L�vesque tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no L�vesque has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
L�vesque tries to advance to mount but can't.

And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.
Lucky L�vesque dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
L�vesque avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
L�vesque slips under a jab.
Lati misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from L�vesque .
L�vesque drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Lati defends it well.
L�vesque changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lati tries to avoid it but L�vesque manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lati to the ground. Lati escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and L�vesque counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Lucky L�vesque has got the better of the ground game so far.
L�vesque won't allow Lati to get back to his feet.
L�vesque sitting in guard, not really doing much.
L�vesque 's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

L�vesque has an Americana. Lati didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! L�vesque is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if L�vesque hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Lucky L�vesque !
Lucky L�vesque very nearly forgot to thank Cayman Islands Clothiers amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
