Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Billy Irish (ranked 4844 p4p, 5401 weight class) and Robert Pickton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Billy Irish!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Robert Pickton!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Tarja Halkonen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pickton tries to score a power double leg takedown but Irish sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Pickton somewhat.
Irish appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Pickton slips a jab and a cross from Irish.
Pickton lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Irish tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Pickton avoids it.

Irish tightens his grip and picks Pickton up, before dumping him to the ground. Pickton manages to land in guard.

Pickton uses the cage to get back to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Pickton looks for a takedown but Irish sprawls well.

Irish throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Pickton was covering up waiting for the punch and Irish finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Pickton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Irish stands up and waves to Pickton to follow him.
Pickton shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Irish but Irish pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Irish closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Pickton's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Irish got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pickton has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Irish has managed to get both his arms back between Pickton's legs - danger averted.

Irish closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Irish lands in his opponent's guard.

Irish displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pickton.
It looked like Irish was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Pickton.

Irish stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Irish wants it to stay on the feet.

Irish has Pickton pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Irish pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Pickton tumbling to the mat - Irish dives into Pickton's guard.

Pickton wants to get up but he can't break Irish's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Pickton thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Irish's head.
Pickton has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Pickton with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Irish tries to lock up and control but Pickton gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Irish is wriggling around trying to escape.
Irish holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Pickton tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Pickton throwing strikes here but Irish is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Robert Pickton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Pickton is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Pickton wants to control from the top but Irish keeps moving.

Pickton shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Irish pinned against the cage. Irish gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Horrible takedown attempt by Pickton or perhaps it was just good defense by Irish, which made it look bad.

Pickton shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Irish as he avoids it easily.
Irish half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Pickton tries to pull guard but Irish holds him up against the cage and eventually Pickton drops back down to his feet.

Pickton escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Pickton fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Irish moves into the clinch.
Pickton using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Irish has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Irish tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pickton swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Irish bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
