This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the featherweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Noah Diaz! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Percy O'Donnell and Don Winkell.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Donde feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Diaz for as long as he can get away with. Diaz wants to improve his position but instead Donde has moved into half guard.

Good control from Donde. Donde seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Diaz is in bad spot here.

You can see the frustration on Diaz's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. I would not like to be Diaz right now.
Donde has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Diaz's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Donde controls the action. Diaz is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Donde off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Donde has the hooks in. Diaz is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Donde has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Diaz's body.

And that's the end of the fight! Donde takes the fight on points by 18 to 5. In his post fight interview, Raymond Donde started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception. Noah Diaz spoke after the fight, saying 'Let's run it back, I'll strangle that fool!'. |
