PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Noah Konn (ranked 3889 p4p, 24623 weight class) and Penko Penev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penko Penev will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Noah Konn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Penko Penev!

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Penev.
Konn takes a swing at Penev's ribcage but misses.
Nice takedown defense from Konn. No joy for Penev on that attempt.
Konn looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Penev shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Konn as he jumps to the side.
Noah Konn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Penko Penev.
Penev shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Konn defends it nicely.
Konn changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Penev tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Konn manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Konn is looking to take a break and control but Penev is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Penev really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Konn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
You can see the frustration on Penev's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Penev is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Penev has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Konn escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Konn!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Konn looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Penev with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Konn is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Konn is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Penev defends it well.

The ground and pound from Konn seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Penev escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Konn gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Konn drops back looking for a leg! Penev is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Penev manages to kick Konn off! Konn jumps back into Penev's guard.
