Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Yonglong Li (ranked 1671 p4p, 1709 weight class) and Thomas Raske (ranked 248 p4p, 255 weight class). Yonglong Li had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 32 - 19 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Yonglong Li! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 24 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Thomas Raske! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Atkins and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Li takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Raske thumps Li with a low kick. Raske cracks Li with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Raske throws a leg kick but Li checks it. It looked like Li was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Raske. A nice inside leg kick there by Raske. That's going to slow Li down. Raske fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Li, pushing him back against the cage. Raske misses with a punch to the body.
Li blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Raske told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight. Li lands a right hand that snaps the head of Raske backwards. Raske goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Li works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Raske lands a right hand. Raske working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Nice body punch from Raske - that landed with a thud.

Li lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Raske fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Li lands an uppercut. Li can't find room to land a body shot as Raske controls the action.

Raske has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Li regains guard immediately. Raske tries to free his leg and advance position but Li is retaining full guard. Li wants to sweep but no luck. Raske postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Raske passes Li's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Li wants to control but Raske is keeping busy and won't allow it. Li keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Raske is working for a kimura but Li is defending it quite comfortably.
Raske is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Li doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Raske.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Raske is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Li is controlling Raske's trapped leg to prevent Raske from advancing to side control. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Raske is looking to advance position but Li won't allow it. Raske is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Li doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Raske. Li is trying to stand.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Raske is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Li defends it well. Raske is nestled in close to Li, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Raske is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Raske works his foot free and advances to mount. Raske wants to control the pace but Li is squirming around nicely. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Thomas Raske dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Li takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Raske tries to clinch and Li counters with a left to the body. Thomas Raske seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Raske lands with a straight right. Li didn't see that one coming. Raske throws a lazy uppercut

It looks like Thomas Raske has been cut. Raske misses with a low kick.
A nice inside leg kick there by Raske. That's going to slow Li down. Raske uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Li. A looping hook to the body misses from Raske. Li does a little dance to reset his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Li blocks a jab. Raske throws a leg kick but Li sees it coming and moves out of range. Li is looking to counter punch. Raske uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Li has time to react. A leg kick checked by Li.
That's one minute gone in the round. Raske misses with a jab, cross combination.

and Li counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Li lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Raske throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Raske tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Li tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Raske thuds a left hand into Li's body. Raske throws an overhand right that lands on Li's shoulder, as Li tries to avoid the shot. A left lands for Li. Raske scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Li doesn't seem bothered though. Raske darts in and clinches Li up against the cage. Raske goes for a takedown in the clinch but Li prevents it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Raske tries to throw a body punch but Li avoids it by throwing Raske back against the cage. Li makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. This has been an exciting period of action! Nice body punch from Li - that landed with a thud.
Li lands a left hand that snaps the head of Raske backwards. Li takes a shot to the head. Raske throws a punch but it's blocked by Li. Li lands an uppercut. Still in the clinch, Li scores with a nice short uppercut.
Raske is rocked! Raske blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Raske is still on wobbly legs! Can Li finish him? Li misses with a shot to the kidneys.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Raske creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Good body shot from Li.
Li lands a left hand.
Raske breaks the clinch.
Raske throws a lazy right hand but Li sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. As Raske backs away, Li returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. Raske swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Raske seems to have recovered his senses. Raske has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Raske scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Raske waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Li.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Raske is keeping his hands low and just asking to be knocked out. Li Raises his leg and lands a stunning axe kick! Raske is out cold, face down on the mat!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Yonglong Li! A very excited looking Yonglong Li made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
