Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jacob Armstrong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kirk Ferland!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Steven Brown and Daniel Bishop.

Armstrong tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Armstrong closes the distance and clinches up with Ferland, looking for a takedown. Armstrong pushes Ferland against the cage but Ferland circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Ferland counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Armstrong throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ferland sees it coming and avoids it easily.
A nice side step and Ferland releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Ferland connects with a right hand. Armstrong shakes it off.
Ferland cracks Armstrong with an open hand slap.
Nice shot lands for Ferland.

Armstrong is rocked!
Ferland is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Ferland getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Oh Armstrong is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Armstrong scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Armstrong has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Armstrong fails to land a wild elbow strike.
You can see the frustration on Ferland's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Ferland is looking to regain half guard here but Armstrong keeps moving and retains side control.

Armstrong throwing strikes but Ferland manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Ferland decides to stand back up.
Armstrong wants to clinch up but Ferland keeps it at a distance.

Ferland misses with a hook to the body
and Ferland takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Ferland scores with a sloppy right hand. Armstrong should have avoided that one.
Ferland lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Ferland avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ferland is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Armstrong with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Ferland to score with a decent uppercut.

Armstrong tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ferland paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Armstrong takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Ferland slaps away a takedown attempt from Armstrong, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Armstrong is breathing heavily.
Armstrong walks straight into a right hand from Ferland - that's dropped him! Ferland jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Armstrong from any more punishment! Armstrong complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Kirk Ferland!
