PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tim Finnigan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Crazy Schildt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Finnigan comes to the cage accompanied by Finnigan's wake. The crowd seem to be enjoying Schildt's choice of entrance music: Blackeyed pees - Boom boom pow. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tim Finnigan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Crazy Schildt!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Hirohito Nitta and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Schildt shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Schildt is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Finnigan tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Tim Finnigan just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Schildt throws a series of punches but Finnigan avoids them all with ease.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Finnigan lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Schildt has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Finnigan clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Schildt lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Schildt misses with a takedown attempt - Finnigan sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Finnigan is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Schildt shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Finnigan pinned against the cage. Finnigan gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Finnigan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Schildt.

That was a close second round but I would say that Tim Finnigan will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Finnigan fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Schildt.

Finnigan lands a nice looking kick to the body. Schildt takes a step back to recover.

It looks like Crazy Schildt has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Schildt keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Schildt throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Finnigan's waist but Finnigan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Schildt off to one side.
Crazy Schildt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Schildt swats away the attempt to clinch by Finnigan.
Schildt fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Finnigan tries to close the distance and clinch but Schildt swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Schildt throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Finnigan.
Finnigan attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Schildt tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Finnigan swivels and escapes.
Tim Finnigan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Crazy Schildt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Finnigan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Schildt lands a nice hook to Finnigan's body. Finnigan takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Finnigan tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Schildt is able to avoid easily.
Schildt moves away from the strike by Finnigan.

Schildt feints and as Finnigan raises his hands in defense, Schildt changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Schildt lands a couple of digs.
Finnigan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Schildt working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Finnigan manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Schildt manages to get himself to full guard.
Schildt wants to sweep here but Finnigan controlling him for the moment.
Schildt is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Finnigan is controlling him.

Finnigan sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Schildt's guard.
Schildt is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Schildt is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Finnigan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Finnigan's back!

Schildt wants to stand and escape but Finnigan is having none of it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Finnigan is taking a breather. Schildt says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Finnigan looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Finnigan prevents Schildt from standing back up.
Crazy Schildt has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Finnigan, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
