Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Stewart Doyle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joe Jones! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Michael Johnstone and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones fails with an attempt to clinch.
Doyle has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Jones throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Doyle was covering up waiting for the punch and Jones finishes the takedown easily into guard. Jones's corner is telling him to maintain position. Jones trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Doyle had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jones defends it easily. Doyle wants to sweep but no luck. Jones wants to stand but Doyle is controlling his posture from full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Jones landing with the ground and pound. Jones avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Doyle wants to sweep but no luck. Jones would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Jones wants to control from the top but Doyle keeps moving. Jones avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Jones landing some decent shots from guard. Jones has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Doyle to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Jones is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Doyle pulls down on the head and he's put Jones to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Stewart Doyle! A very excited looking Stewart Doyle rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
