PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between David Clyne (ranked 4821 p4p, 6418 weight class) and Joana Guerra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joana Guerra!

Guerra misses with a body kick.
Clyne shoots in for a takedown but Guerra shows good takedown defense.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Guerra.
Guerra shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Clyne but Clyne pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Clyne quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Guerra dives in and grabs Clyne's left leg, looking for a takedown. Clyne pushes down on Guerra's head and hops out.
David Clyne has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joana Guerra.
Clyne is looking to clinch but Guerra is avoiding it.
Guerra tries to counter by closing the distance.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Guerra holds on and takes a little breather.
Clyne postures up in Guerra's guard and throws a big left but Guerra blocks it.
Clyne wants to control from the top but Guerra keeps moving.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Guerra is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Guerra fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Clyne avoids it really well and circles away.
Clyne appears to be looking for a big counter.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Guerra is defended easily by Clyne.

Guerra closes the distance and pushes Clyne back into the cage.

Guerra drags the fight down to the ground.

Guerra escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Clyne gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Clyne throws a strike but Guerra rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Clyne is trying to control the position but Guerra postures up.
Guerra is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Guerra slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Clyne changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Guerra tries to avoid it but Clyne manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Guerra to the ground. Guerra escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Guerra throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Clyne's waist but Clyne gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Guerra off to one side.

Clyne shoots in but no luck this time.

Guerra gets control of Clyne's arms and successfully pulls guard. Guerra will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Guerra is looking to stand up but Clyne isn't so interested in that idea.
Guerra seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Guerra accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Guerra connects with a couple of short punches.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Guerra keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Clyne's head.

Guerra has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Guerra tries to free his leg and advance position but Clyne is retaining full guard.
Guerra looking to sit in guard and control but Clyne gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Guerra is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Clyne missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Clyne slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close second round but I would say that David Clyne will probably get the nod.

Guerra looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Clyne is defending well. Guerra quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Clyne has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Guerra celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
