The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Luque punishes Keaty's body with a nice straight punch. Keaty shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. We've been hearing good reports from Keaty's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Keaty trying to control but Luque is working from the bottom. Keaty passes into half guard. Keaty uses his free foot to push down on Luque's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Luque. Luque wants to hold on but Keaty pushes him away. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Luque can do anything to dispel that myth. Keaty can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Luque is looking to escape. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Keaty wants to take his opponent's back but Luque doesn't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Keaty is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Keaty extends the arm and Luque is forced to tap!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Henry Keaty!
