PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brat Pitt (ranked 7025 p4p, 24939 weight class) and Jim Brown (ranked 669 p4p, 686 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brat Pitt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Brown!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pitt tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Brown paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Brown changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Brown keeps the fight on the outside.

Pitt has managed to clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Pitt fails to land.
Brown is trying to push Pitt away but Pitt has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Brown wants to break free but Pitt has control.
Brown takes an elbow to the temple.

It looks like Jim Brown has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pitt is trying to pull guard but Brown has him pressed against the cage.
Pitt throws a head punch that misses.
Brown on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Brown content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Brown postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Pitt is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pitt knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Brown on the ground.

Pitt throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Pitt lands a nice short elbow.
Pitt drops an elbow to the side of Brown's head.

Brown is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Pitt scores with a couple of nice shots.
Brown has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Brown is trying to stand up here but Pitt is controlling him well.
Brown tries to kick Pitt off in order to stand up. Pitt Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Brown is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Pitt asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Pitt creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Brown sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Brown is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Pitt has just dragged him back down to the mat.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brown sneaks out the side door and pushes Pitt away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Pitt shoots in looking for a takedown but Brown manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Pitt's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Brat Pitt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brown stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brat Pitt. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pitt tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Brown with the counter takedown but Pitt avoids it easily.

Pitt will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Brown stuffs the takedown.
Pitt throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Brown's waist but Brown gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pitt off to one side.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The fight stays on the outside here - Pitt looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Brat Pitt will probably get the nod.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Pitt is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Brown is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Brown prevents Pitt from getting the reversal.
Pitt is squirming around, avoiding Brown's attempts to control the action.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Brown. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Brown lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Brown tries to control but Pitt wriggling away.
Pitt tries to hold on but Brown pushes him away.
Brown has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Brown punishing his opponent with strikes.
Brown looking to finish Pitt with some ground and pound. This is bad for Pitt!
Brown is landing with some decent strikes but Pitt is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pitt takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Brown's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
