And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 2 losses; Lemony Snicket! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Snicket tries to clinch up but Al Jhit circles away and keeps his distance. Al Jhit gets a clinch. Al Jhit wants the takedown. Snicket is fighting it off but Al Jhit persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Snicket's guard against the ropes. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Al Jhit (2) vs (0) Snicket Al Jhit controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Al Jhit is pushing down on Snicket's leg trying to pass to half guard. Snicket is fighting to maintain full guard but Al Jhit has managed to sneak the leg through. Al Jhit is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Snicket defends it well. Al Jhit is trying to work for a kimura but Snicket is defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Al Jhit passes the guard and advances to mount! Score +3 for passing guard: Al Jhit (5) vs (0) Snicket The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Al Jhit looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
That's one minute gone in the round. Al Jhit trying to control but Snicket is having none of it. Al Jhit moves to the back position. Score +3 for taking back: Al Jhit (8) vs (0) Snicket Snicket is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Al Jhit gets his way!
Snicket is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Al Jhit off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Al Jhit has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Snicket! Can he survive? No! He's out! Al Jhit gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Bazar Al Jhit! Bazar Al Jhit spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant. |
