Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Rotoras (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Les Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rotoras comes into the arena with Remember the Name! blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ricardo Rotoras!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Les Paul!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Paul.
Rotoras is looking to reverse the position.

Paul wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rotoras, who protects the arm well.
Rotoras misses with a strike from the bottom.
Rotoras throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.

Paul is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Rotoras has escaped the position, nice work there.

Paul looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Paul tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Rotoras gets back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rotoras wants to control but Paul is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Paul sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Rotoras defending well though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Paul wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rotoras keeps working.
Rotoras wants to get back to full guard.
Paul is thwarting Rotoras's attempts to control the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Rotoras tries to clinch up.
Paul tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rotoras swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rotoras looks to land a combination. Paul sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Paul closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Rotoras actively working from the bottom here.
Rotoras is trying to get back to full guard.
Paul wants to take a breather but Rotoras is having none of it.
Paul is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Paul throwing shots but Rotoras is blocking nicely.
Paul not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Paul is pressing down on Rotoras's thigh, looking to free his foot. Rotoras is holding on for now.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Paul shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rotoras as he jumps to the side.
Rotoras tries to clinch but Paul is having none of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Paul circles away from the clinch attempt

and Paul counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Rotoras is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Paul's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Paul's back!
Rotoras tries to keep control of the position but Paul is staying busy.
Rotoras will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Paul trying to control the action but Rotoras just sinks the hooks in.
Paul manages to reverse the position and now he's in Rotoras's guard. Nice work there by Paul.

Rotoras lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Paul!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Paul is trying to escape the mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rotoras has control of Paul's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Paul regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Paul regains half guard.
Paul moves into full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Rotoras is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Paul has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Rotoras is looking to defend but Paul has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Rotoras! Paul pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Rotoras taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Les Paul!
