Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Welter Weight (ranked 547 p4p, 724 weight class) and Joy Rones (ranked 88 p4p, 112 weight class). Weight comes to the cage accompanied by They say that I'm Crazy. Rones has chosen Side to Side as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Welter Weight!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 13 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joy Rones!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Richard Clark and Andrew Berry.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rones loads up on a big right hand but Weight slips the punch.
Weight moves out of range of the strikes.
Weight swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
A jab from Weight does it's job there.

It looks like Joy Rones has been cut.
Weight scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Rones tries to close the distance and clinch but Weight swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Weight throwing a counter right hand but Rones manages to avoid it.
Weight throws a big shot that misses.
Rones works the jab nicely.

It looks like Welter Weight has been cut.

Rones fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Weight, pushing him back against the cage.

Weight pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rones scores with a jab to the head.

Rones takes the fight into the clinch.
Weight working some nice short punches in the clinch.

Rones's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Weight counters with a crisp one two that drops Rones! Weight thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Rones to his feet! Rones is in big trouble!

A counter left hand to the body from Weight misses its target.
Rones's coach down at Alpha Brasil was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Rones's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Rones darts in and clinches Weight up against the cage.
Weight throws a head punch that misses.

Weight breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Rones just misses with a punch to the body.
Rones throws a head kick that misses.
Rones stuns Weight with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Weight scores with a nice strike.
Rones throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Weight counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Rones thinking.
Weight scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Rones takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Rones throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Weight connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Rones closes the distance and clinches.
Rones tries to score a body lock takedown but Weight shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Weight breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Rones tries a head kick but it misses.
A telegraphed right hand from Rones misses the target.
Rones misses with a shot to the body
and Weight counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Weight ducks under a wild hook from Rones.
Rones throws a lazy head kick
and Weight counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Rones thinking.

Weight gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Rones misses with a body kick.
Rones throws an overhand right that lands on Weight's shoulder, as Weight tries to avoid the shot.
Rones takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Rones looks winded!
Rones tries to clinch up.
As Rones looks to move away, Weight throws a big counter combo but Rones just gets out of the way.
Joy Rones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Weight goes for a small jab and connects. Now Weight goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Rones stumbles back but Weight runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Rones to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Rones will ever be the same after a knockout like that.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Welter Weight!
