TWGC 31 (145lbs, D2): Finals - Round 1 PBP Commentary |
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the featherweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 1 losses; John Lee! And in the blue corner, fighting out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 2 losses; Oenomaus Doctore! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Donald Grub and Colin Fotheringham.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Lee tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Doctore defends well and Lee ends up having to push Doctore into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Lee fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Lee tries to score a power double leg takedown but Doctore sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lee somewhat. Doctore wants to counter the offense by Lee and move into the clinch position. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lee tries to clinch up but Doctore circles away and keeps his distance. We've been informed that Doctore has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Lee darts in and clinches Doctore up against the cage. Lee is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Lee changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Doctore looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Doctore is the more experienced fighter here and he's going to need to draw on some of that experience if he's going to pull this one out the bag. Doctore works his way back into a safe position though. Lee working for a triangle but Doctore defends it easily.
