PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kill Monger (ranked 1005 p4p, 1545 weight class) and Marko Rakic (ranked 136 p4p, 206 weight class). Rakic has chosen Right Above It as his entrance music. The key to victory for Kill Monger has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Marko Rakic!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Sam Margolis and Andrew Berry.

Rakic is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Monger half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Monger shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Rakic manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Monger stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rakic swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rakic is trying to hold Monger in close to prevent damage but Monger has managed to pass into half guard.
Rakic felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Monger is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Monger has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Rakic has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Monger seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Monger is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Rakic has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Rakic really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Monger. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Rakic tries to escape but Monger has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Monger is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Rakic knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Rakic for a finish.
I really don't envy Rakic right now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Rakic is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Monger off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Monger is looking for the choke from the back position but Rakic is controlling his hands well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kill Monger dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Monger looks to land a right hand but Rakic moved out of range.
Rakic lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

It looks like Kill Monger has been cut.

Rakic shoots in and gets a takedown into Monger's guard.

Rakic postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Rakic loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Monger manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rakic manages to get himself to full guard.

Kill Monger overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Monger passes Rakic's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Monger is working for a kimura but Rakic is defending it quite comfortably.
Rakic is looking to improve his position.
Monger is keen to just control but Rakic is a slippery customer.

Monger is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rakic is just riding it out for now. Monger eventually gives up the hold.

Monger is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Rakic has managed to free his arm - good work.

Rakic is in trouble now - Monger has advanced to mount!
Rakic is looking to get to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Monger throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Rakic has his hands clasped together but Monger breaks the hold and Rakic is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Monger!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Kill Monger!
A loyal slave to those sponsorship dollars, Kill Monger made sure he mentioned Fenrir Fightgear - Anno 2013, along with how happy he was to win his fight.
Marko Rakic spoke after the fight, saying 'I congratulate my opponent. You got the better of me tonight, but I will go back to my camp and destroy my next foe.'.
