Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Just Whymer (ranked 122 p4p, 185 weight class) and Jesse Kilpatrick (ranked 21 p4p, 31 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 23 - 10 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Just Whymer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 19 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jesse Kilpatrick! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kilpatrick misses with a two punch combination.
Kilpatrick tries to move into range but Whymer moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Kilpatrick lands with a cross. Whymer lands with a good body shot. Kilpatrick on the wrong end of a nice hook. Kilpatrick throws a lazy right hand but Whymer sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. A solid body kick from Whymer. Whymer drops his hands momentarily and Kilpatrick takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Whymer with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Whymer throws an off balance right hand
and Kilpatrick counters with a single leg into guard. Whymer didn't expect that. Kilpatrick throwing strikes but missing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kilpatrick with a flurry of punches that miss. Kilpatrick is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Kilpatrick working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Kilpatrick stops Whymer from standing up. Kilpatrick throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Whymer works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Kilpatrick postures up in Whymer's guard and throws a big left but Whymer blocks it. Whymer controlling Kilpatrick's posture. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kilpatrick accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Kilpatrick avoids the head kick by Whymer.
Kilpatrick feints the counter takedown. Kilpatrick misses with an uppercut. Good exchange - Whymer coming out on top. Whymer lands a nice shot to the body.
Just Whymer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Whymer connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kilpatrick's hands. Whymer throws a right and a left that Kilpatrick avoids nicely. Kilpatrick with the counter takedown but Whymer avoids it easily. Kilpatrick uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Whymer.
Whymer takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Kilpatrick throws a hook but Whymer avoids it easily. Kilpatrick throws a body shot but no joy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kilpatrick swings widly with a right hand
and Whymer counters with an inside leg kick. Whymer slips a straight right by Kilpatrick. A slapping body kick lands there for Whymer. Kilpatrick rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Whymer counters with a stiff right hand. Whymer scores with a sloppy right hand. Kilpatrick should have avoided that one. Whymer throws a lazy right hand but Kilpatrick sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Whymer chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Whymer connects with a leg kick. Whymer throws out a powerful jab. Whymer throws a leg kick which misses Kilpatrick's front leg but catches the back leg as Kilpatrick tries to avoid it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Whymer lands a jab. This has been an exciting period of action! Kilpatrick walks into a straight right hand from Whymer. Kilpatrick throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Whymer is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Kilpatrick tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Whymer was well out of range. Poor timing from Kilpatrick. Whymer quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect. Kilpatrick takes a shot right to the bread basket. Whymer lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Whymer explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Kilpatrick thows a left - swing and a miss! Kilpatrick takes a swing at Whymer's ribcage but misses. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Just Whymer dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. A telegraphed right hand from Kilpatrick misses the target. Whymer thinks about countering with a head kick. Kilpatrick throws a lazy right hand but Whymer sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Whymer throws a head kick that misses. Whymer digs a good hook to Kilpatrick's body.
Just Whymer is winning the standup battle so far. Whymer throws a body punch but Kilpatrick moves out of range. Kilpatrick is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Whymer lands a right hook to the body.

Whymer is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kilpatrick can do to turn this around? We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kilpatrick paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Kilpatrick swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Whymer looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

and Whymer counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Kilpatrick thinking. The crowd cheers as Whymer lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kilpatrick doesn't seem phased though. Just Whymer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Whymer avoids the body shot from Kilpatrick.

Kilpatrick feints the counter takedown. A left lands for Whymer. Whymer walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Whymer dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Kilpatrick. That did some damage!

And Whymer counters with a quick kick to the body but Kilpatrick blocks it. Whymer moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. This has been an exciting period of action! Whymer lands with a nice body kick. Kilpatrick scores with a nice strike. Kilpatrick shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Whymer as he avoids it easily. A nice leg kick lands there from Whymer. Kilpatrick misses with a straight right. Whymer gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Kilpatrick looks to land a right hand but Whymer moved out of range. Whymer lands a nice looking kick to the body. Kilpatrick takes a step back to recover.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Whymer bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
It looks like Jesse Kilpatrick has been cut. Whymer cracks Kilpatrick with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Kilpatrick looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Whymer finish him?
Kilpatrick is rocked! Whymer defending well as Kilpatrick loads up on a big left hand. Kilpatrick takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Kilpatrick is breathing heavily. Whymer fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Kilpatrick checks it well. Whymer misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kilpatrick.
And Kilpatrick tries to counter it with a takedown but Whymer pushes his down on his head and steps out. Good shot there by Whymer. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kilpatrick throws a hook to the side of Whymer's head but Whymer sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Kilpatrick has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Whymer.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kilpatrick scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Whymer doesn't seem bothered though. Whymer lands a jab to the nose. A thudding body kick lands there by Whymer!
A shot to the liver by Whymer. Beautiful body shot. Whymer scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Whymer throws a push kick but Kilpatrick slaps the foot to one side. Kilpatrick is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Whymer moves away from the strike by Kilpatrick. Whymer is looking to land body kicks. Whymer displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kilpatrick throws out the jab. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Just Whymer dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Jesse Kilpatrick's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round! Whymer finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Whymer throws the kick towards the body but Kilpatrick avoids it. Kilpatrick with the counter takedown but Whymer avoids it easily. Crunch! Whymer slams his shin into Kilpatrick's torso. Kilpatrick misses with a wild body shot. Whymer avoids the body shot from Kilpatrick.
Whymer connects with the punch. Kilpatrick's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Whymer tries a low kick but Kilpatrick avoids it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Whymer connects with a single shot there. Kilpatrick with a poor takedown letting Whymer counter with a right hand. Kilpatrick takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Whymer cracks Kilpatrick with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
That's one minute gone in the round. Whymer feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Kilpatrick sprawling to the canvas! Kilpatrick rolls over backwards and springs off the ropes and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Whymer finish him?!
Kilpatrick is still on wobbly legs! Can Whymer finish him? Whymer lands a right hook to the body.
Both fighters circling a little - Whymer finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Kilpatrick seems to have recovered his senses. Whymer buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Whymer lands with a nice body kick. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A nice leg kick from Whymer, right into the meat of the thigh.
Whymer thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Kilpatrick if he has to take too many more of those.
Whymer cracks a nice hook into Kilpatrick's ribs. Whymer with a nice calf kick. Kilpatrick has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. Whymer scores with a jab to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kilpatrick moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Kilpatrick is keeping his hands low and just asking to be knocked out. Whymer Raises his leg and lands a stunning axe kick! Kilpatrick is out cold, face down on the mat!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Just Whymer! Just Whymer decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
