Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ernest Graves (ranked 890 p4p, 469 weight class) and Kagekatsu Uesugi (ranked 117 p4p, 57 weight class). Kagekatsu Uesugi has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Ernest Graves's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Ernest Graves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kagekatsu Uesugi!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Percy O'Donnell and Frank Antenori.

Graves looks for a takedown but Uesugi sprawls well.
Uesugi stuffs the takedown.
A nice side step and Uesugi releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Graves shoots in but Uesugi avoids the takedown attempt easily.
It seemed like Uesugi was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ernest Graves. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Graves will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Graves closes the distance and clinches up with Uesugi, looking for a takedown. Graves pushes Uesugi against the cage but Uesugi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

We've been hearing that Graves has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Uesugi keeping moving, preventing Graves from controlling successfully.
Graves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Uesugi swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Uesugi isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Graves stacks Uesugi on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Graves!

Uesugi looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Uesugi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Graves is just riding it out for now. Uesugi eventually gives up the hold.

Graves wants to improve his position but Uesugi is controlling well.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kagekatsu Uesugi will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Uesugi let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Graves fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Uesugi avoids it really well and circles away.

Uesugi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Graves can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A close second round but Kagekatsu Uesugi will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Graves wants to lay and pray for a moment but Uesugi keeps working.

Uesugi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Graves pulls his head out easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Graves passes into side control, despite Uesugi's attempt to control the position.

Ernest Graves overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Graves is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Uesugi can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Graves goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Uesugi turns into him and now he's in Graves's guard.

Graves is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Uesugi can do to turn this around?
