Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Zachary Crawford! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gon Freecs! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Freecs closes the distance and clinches. Freecs pulls guard effortlessly. Crawford has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Crawford is working Freecs over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Freecs controls Crawford momentarily but Crawford frees himself. Crawford tries to free his leg and advance position but Freecs is retaining full guard. Freecs escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Crawford gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Crawford is looking to pass into half guard but Freecs pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Freecs is in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Freecs controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Crawford can't keep his opponent in guard - Freecs advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Freecs content to control rather than advance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Crawford desperately trying to maintain half guard. Freecs is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Freecs is taking a breather. Crawford says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Freecs throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Crawford is looking to improve his position.
Freecs wants to control but Crawford is keeping him busy. Freecs is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Crawford is trying to maintain the position but Freecs is very close to passing his half guard.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Freecs has taken the fight to the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Crawford is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Freecs to keep the fight standing. Freecs escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Freecs lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Crawford is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Gon Freecs dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Crawford looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Freecs unleashes a big counter combination but Crawford bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. No joy there for Crawford, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Crawford darts in looking for a takedown but Freecs gets double underhooks and turns Crawford into the cage. Freecs replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Crawford blocks it well. Freecs blocks a head kick by Crawford.
Freecs throws a counter combo. Crawford changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Freecs tries to avoid it but Crawford manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Freecs to the ground. Freecs escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zachary Crawford. That's going to take a lot out of him. Freecs tries to score a power double leg takedown but Crawford sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Freecs somewhat. Freecs lands a big head kick that sends Crawford tumbling to the mat! Freecs takes a step backwards and waves Crawford back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Crawford is rocked! Crawford shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Freecs's guard. Freecs has his feet on Crawford's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Oh Crawford is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Crawford really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Freecs clinches with his opponent.
Freecs ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Freecs no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Crawford seems to have got his legs back now. Crawford won't allow Freecs to sweep him here. Freecs manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. Freecs tries for a takedown but Crawford manages to get underhooks.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Freecs lands a nice knee to the body. Freecs pulls guard successfully.
Crawford wants to stand but Freecs has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Gon Freecs has got the better of the ground game so far. Freecs has momentary wrist control but Crawford slips an elbow through the middle. Freecs lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Freecs stands and throws Crawford's legs to the side, diving into side control. Freecs decides to take the fight back to the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fight moves into the clinch position. Crawford is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Freecs has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Freecs pulls guard effortlessly. Freecs working a defensive guard here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Crawford throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. We've been told by Crawford's head coaches at Cozad MMA St Petersburg that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Crawford takes one to the chin there. Freecs fails with the takedown. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Crawford dives in and grabs Freecs's left leg, looking for a takedown. Freecs pushes down on Crawford's head and hops out. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Freecs darts in looking for a takedown but Crawford gets double underhooks and turns Freecs into the cage. Crawford drops down looking for a counter takedown but Freecs sprawls and moves away. Zachary Crawford has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gon Freecs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Freecs plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Freecs avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Freecs scores with a hook to the body. Crawford takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Crawford will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Freecs looking for a guillotine from mount but Crawford is having none of it. Freecs avoids the attempt from Crawford to control. Zachary Crawford has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Gon Freecs is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. And that's the end of the fight! Gon Freecs comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Freecs has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
