Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, William Porthaven! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yrjo Pieru! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pieru fails to land the takedown. Pieru moves in looking to clinch but Porthaven pushes him off. Porthaven throws a hook but Pieru blocks it. Pieru pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Pieru circles away from the clinch attempt and Pieru counters with a shoot takedown. Porthaven fights it but they end up in guard. Pieru wants to pass the guard but Porthaven is keeping the position. Pieru postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Pieru trying to control but Porthaven is working from the bottom. Pieru trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pieru scoring with some ground and pound. Porthaven has his hands on Pieru's head, controlling the position. Porthaven controls Pieru momentarily but Pieru frees himself. Pieru is in close to Porthaven's body, working some short punches and elbows. Pieru missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Pieru loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Pieru has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Pieru throws a strike but Porthaven rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Porthaven trying to control but Pieru is working from the bottom. Pieru has his feet on Porthaven's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Porthaven throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. William Porthaven seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Porthaven closes the distance looking to clinch and Pieru counters with a single leg into guard. Porthaven didn't expect that. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Porthaven manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pieru manages to get himself to full guard.
Pieru striking off his back but it's not causing Porthaven any problems.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pieru wants to stand up but Porthaven is controlling him. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pieru pushes Porthaven off and scrambles back to his feet.
Pieru has a takedown stuffed. Pieru shoots in for a double leg but Porthaven sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. William Porthaven has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yrjo Pieru. Porthaven tries to clinch up. Porthaven tries to clinch but fails miserably and Pieru counters with a shoot takedown. Porthaven fights it but they end up in guard. Pieru throws and elbow that misses. Porthaven uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Pieru's guard. Nice move by Porthaven!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Porthaven is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Pieru wants to stand and escape but Porthaven is having none of it. Pieru looks gassed! Porthaven trying to control but Pieru is working from the bottom. Porthaven sitting in guard here, content to control. Porthaven trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Yrjo Pieru dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

It looks like Yrjo Pieru has been cut. Porthaven lands a nice knee to the body. Porthaven is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Pieru is keeping busy. Pieru has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Porthaven clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Pieru somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back. Porthaven has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Pieru. Pieru missing with punches from the back. Porthaven avoids the strikes from Pieru.
That's one minute gone in the round. Porthaven prevents Pieru from getting a body triangle. Pieru is trying to stick to Porthaven's back but Porthaven is turning into Pieru. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Pieru's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Porthaven. Porthaven looking to pass the guard. Porthaven stops Pieru from standing up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Pieru avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Porthaven wants to clinch. Porthaven misses with a hook to the body
and Pieru counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Porthaven's guard now. Yrjo Pieru has got the better of the ground game so far. Porthaven looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Porthaven preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Porthaven working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Pieru. Porthaven trying to keep a closed guard but Pieru is proving a slippery customer.
Porthaven looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pieru is one step ahead there. Pieru wants to control from the top but Porthaven keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Porthaven misses with a combination
and Pieru counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Porthaven's guard now. Pieru thows a big elbow that misses. Pieru postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Pieru throws a big right hand that misses. Porthaven pulls Pieru in close to prevent any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pieru won't allow Porthaven to sweep him here. Porthaven utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Pieru is in close to Porthaven's body, working some short punches and elbows. Pieru landing some decent shots from guard. Porthaven preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Pieru throws a strike but Porthaven rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Yrjo Pieru showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Yrjo Pieru's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Pieru shoots in for a takedown but Porthaven shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. A big right from Porthaven misses. A jab from Porthaven misses. Pieru shoots in but Porthaven avoids the takedown attempt easily. Porthaven closes the distance looking to clinch and Pieru counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Pieru missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Pieru lands a couple of decent looking shots. Pieru pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Porthaven is keeping the position for now. Pieru stands up from Porthaven's guard - Pieru perhaps looking for a knockout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pieru on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Pieru fails with a takedown attempt. William Porthaven has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yrjo Pieru. Pieru takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Porthaven wants to clinch and Pieru counters with a nice double leg into side control. Porthaven won't be happy with that. Pieru throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Sloppy strikes there by Pieru. You can see the frustration on Porthaven's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pieru lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Sloppy strikes there by Pieru. Pieru working away. Porthaven tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad. Porthaven on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Porthaven tries to get out of the position. Pieru throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Pieru dominating with strikes here. Pieru avoids the attempt from Porthaven to control. Pieru has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Porthaven's face.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A nice elbow there by Pieru. Pieru throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Porthaven tries to hold on but Pieru postures up. William Porthaven has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Pieru throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Porthaven tries to lock up and control but Pieru gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Pieru throws some wild stikes that Porthaven manages to avoid easily.
Poor strikes thrown by Pieru there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Porthaven tries to reverse the position but Pieru maintains control. Pieru throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Pieru connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
And that's the end of the fight! Yrjo Pieru comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Pieru winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
