PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ernest Graves (ranked 1211 p4p, 528 weight class) and Dollar Hero (ranked 145 p4p, 60 weight class). Hero has chosen For Heavy Metal we will die! as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Dollar Hero has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Ernest Graves's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Ernest Graves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dollar Hero!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Andrew Berry and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Graves looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Hero!
Hero sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Graves prevents Hero from improving his position.
Hero wants to get back to full guard but Graves has passed into side control.
Hero tries to improve position but can't.
Hero is trying to control Graves's posture but Graves avoids it.
Hero is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Graves wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hero keeps working.
Hero is looking for a sweep.
Hero manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Hero felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Graves is landing with some decent strikes but Hero is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Graves is working for a kimura but Hero is defending it quite comfortably.

Graves shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Graves was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Hero is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Graves's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
We've been hearing that Graves has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Graves slips a nice elbow through Hero's hands, connecting with Hero's forehead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Graves tries to free his leg and advance position but Hero is retaining full guard.

Hero has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Graves can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Graves is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hero can do to turn this around?

Hero has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Graves is working the ground and pound. Can Hero escape?

Graves looking to break Hero's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Hero remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Graves will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Graves is landing with strikes. Hero can't take much more of this.
Hero is really stuck here.

Graves has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Hero has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Hero just trying to survive but Graves is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Graves has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Graves is trying to stick to Hero's back but Hero is turning into Graves. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Graves's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Hero.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Graves is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Graves sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Oh but Hero is tightening it up a little... Graves has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Graves reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Graves taps out! Nice BJJ there by Hero!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Dollar Hero!
A less than humble Dollar Hero misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
