PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hanjiang Muru (ranked 5289 p4p, 3083 weight class) and Emil Heikkinen (ranked 516 p4p, 156 weight class). Heikkinen has chosen Hurricane as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hanjiang Muru!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Emil Heikkinen!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Muru changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Heikkinen tries to avoid it but Muru manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Heikkinen to the ground. Heikkinen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Heikkinen stuffs the takedown attempt from Muru. Muru gets slowly back to his feet.

Heikkinen gets a takedown into half guard.
Heikkinen throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Heikkinen looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Muru is looking to improve his position.
Muru wants to control but Heikkinen is keeping busy.

Muru might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Muru is trying hard to land a takedown here. Heikkinen sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
As Muru backs off Heikkinen throws a huge counter combo but Muru manages to avoid it all.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hanjiang Muru. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Heikkinen lands a leg kick that knocks Muru off balance momentarily.
Heikkinen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Muru.
Heikkinen leaves Muru with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Muru takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Muru fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Heikkinen is looking for the big counter here.

Heikkinen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Muru is trying to control Heikkinen's posture but Heikkinen avoids it.

Muru tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Heikkinen wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Muru can't do much from the bottom here.
Heikkinen is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Heikkinen tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Heikkinen has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Muru tries for a takedown but Heikkinen sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Heikkinen tries to counter by closing the distance.

Muru shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Muru drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Muru as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Heikkinen screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Muru! Nice submission victory there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Hanjiang Muru!
Hanjiang Muru decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
In defeat, Emil Heikkinen stepped up to the mic, saying 'Looks like you were able to survive the hurricane...'.
