Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Santiago Costa (ranked 742 p4p, 259 weight class) and Vertti Ekstrovertti (ranked 114 p4p, 35 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Santiago Costa has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Santiago Costa seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 20 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Santiago Costa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 29 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Vertti Ekstrovertti! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Chris Edwards and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Costa closes the distance and lands a one-two. Costa shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Ekstrovertti napping and manages to drive through into side control! You can see the frustration on Ekstrovertti's face as Costa controls the position. Ekstrovertti tries to bench press Costa off him but Costa keeps the position. Costa lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Ekstrovertti down.
Sloppy strikes there by Costa. Costa lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Costa is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ekstrovertti knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Ekstrovertti can't do much from the bottom here. Costa has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Ekstrovertti is trying to work for a sweep but Costa has mounted him! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Costa has hold of Ekstrovertti's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Ekstrovertti manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ekstrovertti for as long as he can get away with. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ekstrovertti takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Ekstrovertti tries to hold on but Costa postures up. Ekstrovertti throws a low kick but it's checked well by Costa. Ekstrovertti takes a swing at Costa's ribcage but misses. Ekstrovertti throws a body punch but Costa moves out of range. Costa gets a double leg takedown into Ekstrovertti's guard. Ekstrovertti is trying to keep Costa in close.

That's one minute gone in the round. Costa sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ekstrovertti's guard. A big mistake from Costa there, giving up the dominant position! Costa looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ekstrovertti is one step ahead there. That's three minutes gone in the round. Ekstrovertti is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Ekstrovertti is fighting to break Costa's control of his arms but Costa is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Costa keeping moving, preventing Ekstrovertti from controlling successfully. Ekstrovertti must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. That was a close second round but I would say that Santiago Costa will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round! Costa throws a jab when Ekstrovertti was well out of range. Ekstrovertti lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Costa feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Ekstrovertti wants to sweep but no luck. Costa wants to control from the top but Ekstrovertti keeps moving.
