TWGC 31 (145lbs, D3): Finals - Round 2 PBP Commentary |
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the featherweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 1 losses; Flibbo Banino! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 2 losses; Phat Bhoy!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, William Gold and Colin Fotheringham.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Banino fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Bhoy tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Banino darts in and clinches Bhoy up against the cage.
Banino manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Banino trying to control the position.
Bhoy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Banino swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Banino is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Bhoy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Banino working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bhoy doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bhoy manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bhoy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Banino swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Banino looking for a guillotine here but Bhoy defends easily.
Banino has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bhoy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Bhoy not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Bhoy controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bhoy tries to free his leg and advance position but Banino is retaining full guard.

Banino is pulling down on Bhoy's head to control his posture.

Banino escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bhoy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Bhoy wants to pass the guard but Banino is keeping the position.
Bhoy trying to control but Banino is working from the bottom.
Bhoy might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Banino haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Banino escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bhoy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Bhoy is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Banino has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Bhoy is looking to defend but Banino has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Bhoy! Banino pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Bhoy taps out and this one is all over!
