Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bhima Banahatti (ranked 5467 p4p, 4416 weight class) and Vasily Komaroff (ranked 594 p4p, 515 weight class). Vasily Komaroff is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Komaroff felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Komaroff avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Banahatti. Komaroff really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Banahatti. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Banahatti controlling the action here. Banahatti prevents Komaroff from standing back up.

Banahatti is nestled in close to Komaroff, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Komaroff is trying to stand up here but Banahatti is controlling him well. Banahatti takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Komaroff is trying to escape back to his feet but Banahatti uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Komaroff parries the strikes from Banahatti easily there. Banahatti is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Komaroff to escape.

Komaroff is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Banahatti asserts his dominance and retains side control. Banahatti working the ground and pound. Banahatti postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Komaroff is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Banahatti lands a decent elbow from side control. Banahatti controls the position. Komaroff is trying to buck Banahatti off.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Banahatti looks up at the clock and then as Komaroff takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Banahatti smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Banahatti grinds an elbow into Komaroff's temple. Banahatti lands a strong strike to the head of Komaroff. That's dazed him! Banahatti looking to finish here. Komaroff is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Banahatti lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bhima Banahatti! Bhima Banahatti was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
