Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Phillip Haba (ranked 4091 p4p, 2112 weight class) and Matt Cruz (ranked 498 p4p, 303 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Phillip Haba! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Cruz! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Haba swings widly with a right hand
and Cruz counters with a lovely shot to the body. Cruz misses with a right hand enabling Haba to counter with a crisp jab. Cruz dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Cruz throws a shot from downtown. Haba moves away and avoids it. It looked like Haba was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Haba clinches up with Cruz and pushes him back against the cage. Cruz prevents Haba from breaking the clinch. Cruz misses with a punch on the inside.
Haba breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cruz connects with a body shot that sends Haba's belly button to the back. Haba slips a jab from Cruz. Haba is looking for a counter combo. Cruz shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Haba is trying to defend but Cruz finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Cruz working over Haba with some ground and pound. Haba looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Haba is trying to stand back up but Cruz is controlling him
Cruz takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
That's one minute gone in the round. Haba avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Cruz. Cruz is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Cruz thows a huge punch but Haba dodges it nicely.
Cruz seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Haba is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
