This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the bantamweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Sydney, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 1 losses; Carla Oliveira! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Sydney, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 1 losses; Tony Hall! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Percy O'Donnell.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Oliveira drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Oliveira (4) vs (0) Hall We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Hall manages to get back to half guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Oliveira seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hall does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Oliveira prevents Hall from improving his position. We've been hearing that Oliveira has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Hall makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hall. Hall manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Oliveira manages to get himself to full guard.
Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Oliveira (4) vs (2) Hall We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hall controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Hall stands and throws Oliveira's legs to the side, diving into side control. Score +3 for passing guard: Oliveira (4) vs (5) Hall Oliveira is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hall happy to just control the position for now. Hall wants to lay and pray for a moment but Oliveira keeps working. Oliveira is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Hall is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Score +2 for reaching mount: Oliveira (4) vs (7) Hall Hall controlling his opponent. Oliveira has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Score +3 for taking back: Oliveira (4) vs (10) Hall Oliveira knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hall on the ground. Hall tightening his grip on Oliveira, looking for the choke. Hall has good solid back control here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hall working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Oliveira is doing well to defend. Hall seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Oliveira is forced to tap and this one is over!
