PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Maruim Silva (ranked 6310 p4p, 25001 weight class) and Billy Burns (ranked 466 p4p, 526 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Maruim Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Billy Burns!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Patrick Alders and Saam Ante.

Silva clinches with his opponent.
The referee is keeping an eye on Silva - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Burns has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Silva clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Burns punches the canvas rather than the man.
Burns cracks Silva with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Silva from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Burns's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
I really don't envy Silva right now.
Burns lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Silva.
Silva wants to escape the position.

Burns really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Burns is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Silva has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Silva!
Silva is fighting to break Burns's control of his arms but Burns is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Silva is not content to let Burns control the position.
Burns is just content to waste time from the top position. Silva takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Burns is looking to advance position but Silva has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

A close round but Billy Burns will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Silva closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Burns to the mat! Burns manages to get full guard.
Burns can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Silva controls the pace.

Silva wants to control from the top but Burns keeps moving.

Silva is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

That was a close second round but I would say that Maruim Silva will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Silva looks to land a left hand but Burns moved out of range nicely.

Burns has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Silva regains guard immediately.

Silva thows a huge punch but Burns dodges it nicely.

Silva is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Silva is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Burns has managed to free his arm - good work.

Burns is doing well to control the position and prevent Silva from advancing to side control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Burns is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Burns has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Silva is working away from the top position though.

Silva is trying to work for a kimura but Burns is defending well.
Burns wants to control but Silva is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Silva perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Well Silva has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
