Montpoisante wants to clinch.
McCowan takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Montpoisante tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from McCowan! But no joy.
We've been told by Montpoisante's head coaches at Ludus Magnus that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Montpoisante misses with an attempted mid kick.

and McCowan holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

McCowan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McCowan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Montpoisante.

Despite the aggression on McCowan's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Montpoisante tries to clinch there but McCowan circles away.
Montpoisante looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
It looks like Daniko Montpoisante has been cut.
A low kick from Montpoisante misses
and McCowan counters with a big right hand! Oh Montpoisante is in trouble here! McCowan follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
