PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lee Sin (ranked 1135 p4p, 1042 weight class) and Sharven Sheven (ranked 163 p4p, 153 weight class). Sin kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Original Nuttah. Lee Sin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 37 - 19 - 3, fighting out of London, Lee Sin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sharven Sheven!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Paul Tew and William Gold.

A big right from Sin misses.

Sin gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Sin drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Sheven gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Sin is trying to trip Sheven. He has hold of a leg but Sheven is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Sin persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Sheven bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sin's guard.

Sin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sheven is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sin is working hard here to advance position.
Sheven controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sheven wants to control from the top but Sin keeps moving.
Sheven won't allow Sin to sweep him here.

Sin manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Sin fails in his attempt to clinch.
Sheven now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Sheven throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sin.
Sin doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Sheven makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Sin tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Sheven counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Sin darts in looking for a takedown but Sheven gets double underhooks and turns Sin into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lee Sin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sheven is looking to slow Sin down with leg kicks.
Sin misses with a straight left.
Sheven throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Sin cracks a nice hook into Sheven's ribs.
Sheven uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Sin.
As Sin backs off Sheven throws a huge counter combo but Sin manages to avoid it all.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

and Sheven counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Sheven has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Sin loads up on a big right hand but Sheven slips the punch.
Sheven tries a quick counter leg kick but Sin is wise to it.
Sin fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sin on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Sin moves in looking to clinch but Sheven pushes him off.
Sheven misses with a takedown attempt - Sin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Sheven dives in for a single leg takedown but Sin sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Sin doesn't manage to clinch there - Sheven circles away.
Sheven ducks right into an uppercut from Sin.
Sheven walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Sin checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Sin tries to clinch but Sheven is having none of it.

Sin uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Sheven scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Sin is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Sheven is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Sheven tries to control but Sin wriggling away.
Sheven prevents Sin from getting the reversal.

Sin bucks up and throws Sheven to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Sheven.
Sheven tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
A slow jab from Sheven misses its intended target.
Sin is looking to counter the offense by Sheven and move into the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sin misses with a lunging right hand
and Sheven counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Sin has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Sin lands a head shot.

Sin clinches up against the cage.
Sin is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Sheven gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Sheven tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Sin's elbow.

Sin tries to score a body lock takedown but Sheven shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Lee Sin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice takedown defense from Sin. No joy for Sheven on that attempt.
Sin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sheven was well out of range. Poor timing from Sin.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Sharven Sheven will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Sin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Sheven manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Sin is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Sheven pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Sheven works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Sheven is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Sin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sheven's guard.

Sin throws an elbow but Sheven slips to the side and avoids it well.

Sheven avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Sin.
Lee Sin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sin throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Sheven to regain full guard.

Sin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Sin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sheven swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Sin lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Sheven takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Sin tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Sin looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Sin connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Sheven's hands.
Sheven scores with a push kick.
Sheven misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Sin.
Sin tries to close the distance and clinch but Sheven swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Despite the aggression on Sheven's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

and Sheven counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Lee Sin will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Sin tries to clinch there but Sheven circles away.
Sin cracks Sheven with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Sin throws a front kick aimed at Sheven's knee but Sheven avoids it well.
Sheven is trying to counter with his kicks.

and Sheven connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Sharven Sheven is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sin moves in looking to clinch but Sheven pushes him off.

Oh, that's a big right hand from Sheven and Sin goes tumbling to the canvas! Sheven follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sin is trying to stand up here but Sheven is controlling him well.
Oh Sin is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Sheven decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Sheven ducks under a wild hook from Sin.
Sheven looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Sin looks to clinch
and Sheven counters with a huge right that knocks Sin out cold! Sheven is running around with a crazed look on his face - you can see how much that meant to him!

Sharven Sheven decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
