Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Juan Caio Xavier (ranked 4821 p4p, 4871 weight class) and Corey Woodys (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Xavier shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Woodys as he jumps to the side.

Woodys fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Xavier to the ground. Woodys is now in Xavier's guard.

Xavier looking for a guillotine here but Woodys defends easily.
Woodys must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Woodys has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Xavier is proving hard to escape from.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Woodys passes Xavier's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Xavier is trying to stand up here but Woodys is controlling him well.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Xavier enables Woodys to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Xavier manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Xavier pushes Woodys off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Woodys bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Xavier is looking to get back to his feet here but Woodys is keeping cool and he's managed to take Xavier's back.

Woodys is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Xavier knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Xavier for a finish.

Xavier is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Woodys is persistently looking for the submission but Xavier is defending it well.
Woodys tries to keep control of the position but Xavier is staying busy.
I really don't envy Xavier right now.
Xavier turns into Woodys and is now in his guard.
Woodys is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Xavier postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Xavier seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

That was a close second round but I would say that Juan Caio Xavier will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Xavier closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Woodys wants to clinch.
Xavier shoots in but Woodys avoids the takedown attempt easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Woodys stuffs the takedown attempt from Xavier. Xavier gets slowly back to his feet.
Xavier avoids the head kick by Woodys.
The fight stays on the outside here - Woodys looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Xavier shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Woodys as he avoids it easily.
Woodys steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Xavier.

Xavier takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Xavier tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Woodys manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
And Woodys responds with a good body kick, but Xavier manages to step out the way in time.

Xavier is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Woodys's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Woodys's back!

Woodys is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Xavier gets his way!

Well Woodys has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
