PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ret Ired (ranked 3551 p4p, 2157 weight class) and Floyd Maybetter (ranked 450 p4p, 295 weight class). Maybetter has chosen Don't Stop The Funk as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ret Ired!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Floyd Maybetter!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Phil Schofield and Chris Edwards.

The crowd cheers as Maybetter lands an impressive looking overhand right. Ired doesn't seem phased though.
Maybetter jabs Ired right on the nose. Ired blinks but takes it well.
Maybetter lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ired circles away quickly and effectively.

Ired gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Ired tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Ired is fighting to break Maybetter's control of his arms but Maybetter is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Ired stands up over Maybetter, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Maybetter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ired is one step ahead there.
Ired throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Maybetter works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Maybetter bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ired's guard.

Maybetter is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Maybetter looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Maybetter is keen to just control but Ired is a slippery customer.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Maybetter is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That was a close round but I would say that Ret Ired will probably get the nod.

Maybetter throws a lazy right hand but Ired sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Ired changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Maybetter fights it off and pushes away nicely.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Maybetter might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Well Maybetter has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
