PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kidney Stone (ranked 254 p4p, 130 weight class) and Astro Traveller (ranked 18 p4p, 10 weight class). Stone comes into the arena with Pour Some Sugar On Me by Def Leppord blaring out of the sound system. Traveller is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by For Heavy Metal we will die!. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Traveller jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Stone moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Stone ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Traveller moves away.
It seemed like Traveller was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Stone uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Traveller.

and Stone counters with a series of strikes. Traveller will be more careful next time no doubt.

Traveller throws a front kick aimed at Stone's knee but Stone avoids it well.
Stone appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.

Traveller sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Stone lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Traveller has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Traveller and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

We've been informed that Traveller has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Kidney Stone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Stone tries to close the distance and clinch up but Traveller swats him away and circles back towards the center.

A close round but Astro Traveller will probably get the nod.

Traveller throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Stone sees it coming and avoids it easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Traveller batters Stone with a massive right followed by a huge left! Stone is out on his feet looking like a zombie as Traveller lands a final crushing right hand to drop Stone to the mat with a gruesome thud! Traveller is running around like a mad man after that fight and for good reason!

In his post fight interview, Astro Traveller started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
