PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alex Peter (ranked 4729 p4p, 5260 weight class) and Rickard Forsberg (ranked 50 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rickard Forsberg!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Roosa Järviläinen.

Peter fails with the takedown
and Forsberg counters with a stiff right hand.
Peter misses with a takedown attempt
and Forsberg counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alex Peter. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Peter closes the distance and pushes Forsberg back into the cage.
Forsberg wants to break the clinch but can't.

and Forsberg counters with a left and a right that stings Peter.

Peter closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Forsberg is trying to stand.
Forsberg really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Peter. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Peter tries to pass the half guard into mount. Forsberg knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Peter is working for a kimura but Forsberg is defending it quite comfortably.
Still in half guard, Peter seems content to control.
Peter prevents Forsberg from standing back up.
Peter slips a nice elbow through Forsberg's hands, connecting with Forsberg's forehead.

Peter stands up out of the half guard.
Peter really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Peter misses with a takedown
and Forsberg counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Peter throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Forsberg cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Peter misses with a right hand
and Forsberg counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Peter misses with a takedown attempt
enabling Forsberg to counter with a crisp jab.

Peter clinches.

Peter manages to break the clinch.
Peter darts in trying to clinch
and Forsberg counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Peter rushes Forsberg and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Forsberg has had enough of the clinch but Peter keeps him there for the moment.
Forsberg wants to break the clinch but can't.
Peter fails to pull guard.
Peter is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Forsberg wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Peter has him pressed against the cage.

Peter's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Peter doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Forsberg counters with a stiff right hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Rickard Forsberg will probably get the nod.
That's time! Peter's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Forsberg counters with a right hand to the body.

Peter looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Forsberg!
Forsberg is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Peter asserts his dominance and retains side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Peter has hold of Forsberg's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Forsberg tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Peter cranks the arm and Forsberg screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Forsberg, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Alex Peter!
Alex Peter opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
