Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Horace Cuba (ranked 1001 p4p, 1282 weight class) and Peetu Tam (ranked 121 p4p, 153 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Horace Cuba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Peetu Tam!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Dirk Anderson and Peter Branson.

Cuba leaves Tam with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Cuba closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Cuba.

It looks like Peetu Tam has been cut.
Tam is trying to force a seperation but Cuba has the dominant position.
Tam takes an elbow to the forehead.
Cuba's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Tam's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Cuba thows a left - swing and a miss!
Tam avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Tam tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Tam keeps the fight on the outside.
Tam circles away from the clinch attempt.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Tam! But no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tam shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Cuba is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Cuba manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Tam manages to get himself to full guard.

Tam wants to control the position but Cuba says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Tam wants to sweep but Cuba has passed to side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tam gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Cuba slows the pace down in half guard.
Tam is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Cuba wants to stand up but Tam has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Tam makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Tam.
Tam wants to sweep but no luck.
Cuba is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Cuba's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Cuba wants to stand but Tam has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Cuba looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Tam is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Cuba on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Tam connects with an inside leg kick.

Cuba has taken the fight to the clinch.
Cuba looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Cuba is looking to control Tam's arms but Tam gets an underhook and turns him. Now Cuba has his back to the cage.
Tam blocks an elbow strike from Cuba.

Tam tries to circle away but Cuba has him pinned against the cage.
Cuba pushes off an throws an elbow but Tam leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Cuba pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Tam breaks the clinch.
Cuba displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Tam.

Tam swats away the attempt to clinch by Cuba.
Cuba is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Cuba throws out a leg kick but Tam moves out of range and Cuba only half commits.

Cuba tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tam swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Horace Cuba seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tam tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Tam lands the left hand.

Cuba tries to clinch up but Tam circles away and keeps his distance.
Tam throws a good cross that connects.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Tam's coach down at Island Sparring was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Tam's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Cuba is looking to clinch.
Cuba lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Peetu Tam will probably get the nod.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Cuba closes the distance and pushes Tam back into the cage.
Cuba creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Tam's defenses.
Cuba gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

That has opened up Peetu Tam's cut even more.
Cuba misses with a hook to the ribs.
Tam blocks the elbow strike.
Cuba struggles to land a body shot inside as Tam controls his hands.
Cuba slows down the pace here.
Cuba keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Tam's efforts to push away.
Cuba avoiding damage.
Tam wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Cuba trying to stall but Tam improves his position.

The fight stays on the outside here - Cuba looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Tam throws a big counter head kick but Cuba avoids it with no problem.
Cuba tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Tam manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Tam looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
Cuba is looking to clinch but Tam is avoiding it.
Tam closes this distance looking for a takedown but Cuba circles away.
Horace Cuba has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peetu Tam.
Cuba tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tam swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Tam throws a quick inside leg kick.
Tam shoots in looking for a takedown. Cuba tries to sprawl out of it but Tam keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cuba manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Tam lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Cuba tries to close the distance and clinch but Tam swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Cuba looks to score with a jab to the body but Tam is just out of range.

Tam is looking to take this one to the mat.

Peetu Tam's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Peetu Tam's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Horace Cuba!
Horace Cuba decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
