Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 49 - 37 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chiku Maneno! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 16 - 17 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chris Millennium! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Luis Engracia and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Millennium shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Millennium is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Maneno prevents Millennium from taking his back. Maneno is squirming around, avoiding Millennium's attempts to control the action. Millennium looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Millennium won't let Maneno get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Millennium has hold of Maneno's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Maneno manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maneno's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Millennium looking to control but Maneno is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Maneno is trying to stand up. Maneno is squirming around, avoiding Millennium's attempts to control the action. Millennium sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Millennium goes for an armbar but Maneno turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Maneno.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Maneno has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Millennium is proving hard to escape from. Millennium has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Maneno doesn't defend quickly enough and Millennium has managed to lock this one up! Can Maneno escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Millennium on a fantastic submission victory.
