Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Merel (ranked 1383 p4p, 1880 weight class) and Teshima Shigochiyo (ranked 172 p4p, 223 weight class). Shigochiyo has chosen Yoshida Brothers - Rising as his entrance music. Teshima Shigochiyo is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anthony Merel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Teshima Shigochiyo! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Colin Fray and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Merel throws a looping overhand right but Shigochiyo ducks down to avoid it. Shigochiyo is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Shigochiyo uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Merel. Shigochiyo feints the counter takedown. Merel slaps away a takedown attempt from Shigochiyo, before circling back to the center of the mat. Merel is looking to counter punch. Merel loads up on a big right hand but Shigochiyo slips the punch. Merel definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shigochiyo tries for a takedown but Merel circles away easily and Merel counters with a straight right hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shigochiyo takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Shigochiyo misses with a takedown attempt and Merel counters with a stiff right hand. Anthony Merel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Teshima Shigochiyo. Merel drops Shigochiyo with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Shigochiyo looks back up at him and smiles so Merel waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Shigochiyo is rocked! Today's fight clock is brought to you by... OOOH that's a huge shot by Merel! Shigochiyo is in big trouble here - the ref steps in to save him and this one is all over!
