Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nicky Spite (ranked 2109 p4p, 4624 weight class) and Pedro Gomez (ranked 291 p4p, 527 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

Gomez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Spite sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gomez somewhat.
Spite appears to be looking for a big counter.
Spite dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

and Spite counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Spite punishes Gomez's body with a nice straight punch.
Spite ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gomez moves away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Spite counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Gomez shoots in looking for a takedown but Spite manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gomez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Spite throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Gomez stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Spite walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Gomez checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Spite lands a nice hook to Gomez's body. Gomez takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Spite throws a body punch but Gomez moves out of range.

Spite fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Gomez looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Spite throws a right and a left that Gomez avoids nicely.
Gomez is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Spite was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Spite moves into range and connects with a jab.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Spite escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gomez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gomez is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Gomez wants to control from the top but Spite keeps moving.
Spite not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gomez cracks Spite with a solid left hand.

Spite throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Nicky Spite seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gomez throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Spite checks a leg kick.
Gomez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Spite is working for a kimura here but Gomez manages to reverse the position and he's now in Spite's guard.

Gomez content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Spite has locked up a guillotine! Spite's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Gomez is holding on here and Spite must be using up a lot of energy. Gomez has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Spite gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
