Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alessio Da Santiago (ranked 3289 p4p, 23691 weight class) and Kirk Fitzpatrick (ranked 340 p4p, 506 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alessio Da Santiago!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kirk Fitzpatrick!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.

Fitzpatrick misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Fitzpatrick tries to keep at a distance but Da Santiago has taken the fight into the clinch.

Fitzpatrick is looking to break free of the clinch but Da Santiago has double underhooks.

Fitzpatrick works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Da Santiago is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Fitzpatrick defends well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fitzpatrick tries to free his leg and advance position but Da Santiago is retaining full guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Da Santiago manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Da Santiago's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Da Santiago using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Fitzpatrick has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Da Santiago throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Fitzpatrick blocks it with crossed arms.

Fitzpatrick shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Da Santiago but Da Santiago pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Da Santiago is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Fitzpatrick is defending well for now.

Fitzpatrick wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Da Santiago has him pressed against the cage.

Fitzpatrick wants to take the fight to the mat but Da Santiago manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Fitzpatrick manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Da Santiago drops back, looking for a kneebar! Fitzpatrick looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Fitzpatrick looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Fitzpatrick!

Da Santiago pushes Fitzpatrick away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Fitzpatrick gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Da Santiago is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Fitzpatrick pulls his head out easily.

Fitzpatrick is looking for a kimura but Da Santiago is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Fitzpatrick to get the leverage.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Fitzpatrick is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Da Santiago has managed to free his arm - good work.

Fitzpatrick is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Da Santiago sees it coming and defends easily.

Da Santiago is looking for a sweep. Fitzpatrick is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Fitzpatrick is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Da Santiago doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Fitzpatrick.

Fitzpatrick shoots in looking for a takedown but Da Santiago manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Fitzpatrick's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Da Santiago lands with a hook. Fitzpatrick tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

That kick from Da Santiago tenderised Fitzpatrick's leg. Fitzpatrick is trying to keep his angry face on.
Da Santiago stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Da Santiago wants it to stay on the feet.

Da Santiago shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Fitzpatrick eats them both and turns towards Da Santiago to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

The referee is keeping an eye on Da Santiago - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
