Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Abdulhassan Nurmanov (ranked 3234 p4p, 24093 weight class) and Wanderlei Shogun (ranked 425 p4p, 673 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Abdulhassan Nurmanov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Wanderlei Shogun! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, William Gold and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shogun has closed the distance and engaged Nurmanov in a clinch.
Nurmanov looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Shogun is trying to pull guard but Nurmanov turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Nurmanov working aggressively here.

Nurmanov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Shogun shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Nurmanov pinned against the cage. Nurmanov gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Abdulhassan Nurmanov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wanderlei Shogun. Nurmanov tries to clinch but Shogun moves out of range. Shogun clinches up with Nurmanov and pushes him back against the cage. Nurmanov misses with a knee to the head. Nurmanov has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Nurmanov struggles to land a body shot inside as Shogun controls his hands.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Nurmanov as Shogun tries to tie him up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shogun's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Nurmanov swats away the attempt to clinch by Shogun. Shogun throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Nurmanov seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Shogun closes the distance and clinches.

Shogun shoots in for a takedown but Nurmanov shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Shogun tries to clinch but Nurmanov moves out of range. Nurmanov is looking to clinch. Shogun misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Nurmanov.

Nurmanov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. No luck for Shogun with that takedown attempt. Nurmanov looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger. Shogun doesn't manage to clinch there - Nurmanov circles away.

Nurmanov closes the distance but Shogun moves to the side and Shogun counters with a takedown into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shogun working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Nurmanov pushes Shogun away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Shogun gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Shogun lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Nurmanov down.
Nurmanov is trying to escape the position but Shogun is controlling the position. Shogun landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Shogun looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Shogun is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Nurmanov knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shogun prevents Nurmanov from escaping the position. Shogun controlling the position from side mount. Shogun has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. It looks like Shogun might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Shogun thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Nurmanov being controlled for a moment. Shogun throwing strikes but missing, from side control. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Shogun landing strikes. Shogun is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Nurmanov's shoulder. That is not cool. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shogun breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Shogun dives in and scores a takedown into Nurmanov's guard. Shogun controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Shogun has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Nurmanov working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Shogun. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shogun slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shogun is continuing to stall. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Nurmanov working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Shogun.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Shogun wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Shogun shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Shogun pushes Nurmanov up against the cage in a clinch. Shogun looking to stall.
Shogun tries to pull guard but Nurmanov holds him up against the cage and eventually Shogun drops back down to his feet.
Nurmanov is trying to maintain a safe position but Shogun gets an underhook and turns Nurmanov into the cage.

Shogun shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Nurmanov is trying to defend but Shogun finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Well, if Shogun is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Shogun is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Nurmanov defends it well. Shogun is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Nurmanov doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Shogun. Nurmanov on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Nurmanov tries to get out of the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Shogun passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Nurmanov! Oh Nurmanov is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shogun takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Shogun connects with a bit shot that sees Nurmanov covering up! More strikes from Shogun and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Shogun is our winner by TKO!
