Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Adam Johnson (ranked 1602 p4p, 1189 weight class) and Sami Steele (ranked 191 p4p, 155 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Adam Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 12 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sami Steele! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Steele circles away. Johnson swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Steele counters with a left and a right that stings Johnson. Johnson throws a poor cross that misses
and Steele counters with a flying knee. Nice. Steele connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Johnson shoots in looking for a takedown. Steele tries to sprawl out of it but Johnson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Steele manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Steele connects with a body shot. Steele slips under a jab from Johnson. The fight stays on the outside here - Johnson looks like he's thinking about clinching though. A nice side step and Steele releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Johnson drives through and clinches with Steele against the cage.
Johnson has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Steele is trying to keep an underhook but Johnson manages to get the takedown into half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Johnson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Steele has managed to free his arm - good work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson is looking for a kimura but Steele is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Johnson to get the leverage. Steele pushes Johnson off and gets back to his feet. Steele connects with a jab. Steele takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Johnson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Steele, pushing him back against the cage. Johnson is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Steele is defending well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Adam Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Johnson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Steele pulls his leg out and moves away.
A solid leg kick lands there for Steele.
Johnson lands the left hand. Johnson closes the distance and pushes Steele back into the cage. Steele breaks from the clinch.
Sami Steele is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Steele misses with a straight right. Johnson doesn't succeed with the takedown and Steele counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson tries for a takedown but Steele circles away easily and Steele counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Johnson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Steele wants to get back to his feet. Johnson tries to advance to mount but can't. Steele is trying to buck Johnson off. Johnson in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Johnson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Steele has escaped the position, nice work there. Johnson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Steele has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Johnson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Steele knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Johnson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Johnson prevents Steele from escaping the position. Johnson throws a strike aimed at the side of Steele's head but Steele avoids it well. Steele is pushing Johnson's head away, looking to escape. Johnson manages to hold on to the position though. Johnson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Johnson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Steele is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Steele tries to escape but Johnson is in control. Johnson has an Americana. Steele didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Johnson is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Johnson hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Adam Johnson! Our winner, Adam Johnson, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
