PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Aloysius Wiremu (ranked 3337 p4p, 4175 weight class) and Umberto Grena (ranked 416 p4p, 495 weight class). Wiremu comes into the arena with Billy Joel - The River of Dreams blaring out of the sound system. Aloysius Wiremu is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 37 - 29 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aloysius Wiremu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 32 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Umberto Grena!

Grena takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

It looks like Umberto Grena has been cut.
Wiremu connects with a right hand. Grena shakes it off.
Grena throws a head kick that misses
and Wiremu counters with a slapping leg kick.
Wiremu cracks a nice hook into Grena's ribs.
Grena takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Wiremu has taken the fight to the clinch.
Wiremu lands with a left to the head.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Grena has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Wiremu's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Grena is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Wiremu counters with a slapping leg kick.
Grena takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Grena chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Wiremu can pounce on him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Grena takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Wiremu lands a really nice looking cross but Grena seems unphased.
The fighters circle, before Wiremu throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Grena's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Wiremu lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick & Punches). Aloysius Wiremu!
A relieved looking Aloysius Wiremu thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
