The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ragnarsson throws a lazy head kick and Eikmeyer counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ragnarsson won't be happy with that. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ragnarsson can do anything to dispel that myth. Ragnarsson is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Eikmeyer tries for a kimura but Ragnarsson is defending well. Eikmeyer tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Ragnarsson is looking to regain half guard here but Eikmeyer keeps moving and retains side control. Eikmeyer is trying to get an arm triangle but Ragnarsson is defending well. Ragnarsson is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Eikmeyer tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Eikmeyer has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's one minute gone in the round. Eikmeyer working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. We've been hearing good reports from Eikmeyer's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Eikmeyer wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ragnarsson, who protects the arm well. Eikmeyer in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Ragnarsson is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Mario Eikmeyer! A less than humble Mario Eikmeyer misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
