Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Xavier Ratana (ranked 4670 p4p, 5835 weight class) and Ethan Serra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Serra has chosen YMCA as his entrance music. The key to victory for Xavier Ratana has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Xavier Ratana! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ethan Serra! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Percy O'Donnell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ratana shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Serra sprawls well. Serra wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ratana gets slowly back to his feet. Ratana misses with an attempted mid kick.
Serra closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Serra perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. It looks like Serra might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ratana tries to get to full guard but Serra has control of the leg. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Serra in particular looking to stall.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Ratana gets caught flat footed, as Serra shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Serra is standing up over Ratana. Ratana looks to escape but Serra dives into side control.
Ratana can't do much from the bottom here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ratana tries to improve position but can't. Serra is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Serra taking a breather here. Serra is trying to get an arm triangle but Ratana is defending well. Serra trying to control the action but Ratana is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Serra working away. Serra controlling the position from side mount. Serra advances nicely into full mount. Ratana tries to hold on but Serra postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Serra controlling the position easily from mount. Ratana throws a strike from the bottom but Serra uses the opportunity to take his back. Serra biding his time, controlling Ratana. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ratana tries to escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ethan Serra dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Serra moves into the clinch. Ratana will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Serra up against the cage. Serra can't get the takedown.

Ratana throws a sloppy head kick and Serra moves out of range easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ratana tries to sprawl but Serra drives through with a takedown into half guard. Ethan Serra has got the better of the ground game so far. Serra is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Ratana tries to roll over but Serra keeps him under control. Serra has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ratana avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Serra. Ratana trying to hold on to Serra's head to control him but Serra postures up.
Serra trying to control the pace. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Ratana actively working from the bottom here.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Serra shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ratana but Ratana pushes him off and we're back to square one. Serra darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Ratana is controlling Serra's position as best he can from this difficult position. Serra is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ratana is just riding it out for now. Serra eventually gives up the hold. Ratana is looking to control Serra's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ratana avoid being mounted?
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ratana is trying to get back to full guard. Serra slows the pace down in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Serra is trying to control the action in half guard but Ratana is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup. Serra seems to be working for a kimura but Ratana defends the submission attempt. Serra not doing much here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ethan Serra showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Serra manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Ratana on his heels. He'll look to pass Ratana's guard now, I'm sure. Ratana is wriggling around but Serra manages to pass to half guard.

Ratana is trying to maintain the position but Serra is very close to passing his half guard. Serra is controlling the pace.
Serra drops an elbow to the side of Ratana's head. Serra looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Serra wants to take a breather but Ratana is having none of it. Serra prevents Ratana from standing back up.

Ratana is looking for a sweep. Ratana is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Serra is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Serra is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet! Both fighters are breathing heavily. Serra feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Serra wanted to stand there but Ratana had control of the position. Ratana is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Serra trying to stand up but can't free himself from Ratana's guard. Ratana is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Serra slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ratana is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
And that's the end of the fight! Ethan Serra comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Serra winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
