PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Yacob Nilsen (ranked 2000 p4p, 2600 weight class) and Buster McDiggle (ranked 272 p4p, 354 weight class). Nilsen comes into the arena with Lil Wayne - Right above it blaring out of the sound system. McDiggle has chosen I Walk the Line- Johnny Cash as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Yacob Nilsen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Buster McDiggle!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and Sam Margolis.

McDiggle bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Nilsen's head.
Nilsen lands with a shot to the body.
Nilsen wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Nilsen scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Nilsen avoids the head kick by McDiggle.
A solid leg kick lands there for Nilsen.
Nilsen getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Nilsen punishes McDiggle's body with a nice straight punch.
Nilsen uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McDiggle.
McDiggle avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Nilsen looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nilsen looks for the body kick but McDiggle saw that one coming.
McDiggle checks the leg kick nicely there.
Nilsen has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from McDiggle finds it's way round the side to connect with Nilsen's head.
McDiggle throws a head kick that half lands.
McDiggle steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Nilsen. That one must have hurt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nilsen connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Nilsen looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Nilsen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Nilsen getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

It looks like Buster McDiggle has been cut.
Buster McDiggle is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nilsen misses with a double jab.
McDiggle takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Nice shot by Nilsen.
The fighters circling - McDiggle throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
McDiggle avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
We've been informed that McDiggle has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Nilsen fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging McDiggle to the ground. Nilsen is now in McDiggle's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nilsen trying to control the position from guard on top but McDiggle is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Nilsen with a nice head shot there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nilsen with a flurry of punches that miss.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

McDiggle escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nilsen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Nilsen postures up in McDiggle's guard and throws a big left but McDiggle blocks it.

Nilsen is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but McDiggle has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Nilsen is looking to defend but McDiggle has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Nilsen! McDiggle pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Nilsen taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Buster McDiggle!
A very excited looking Buster McDiggle made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
