Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Juan Corona (ranked 1280 p4p, 1018 weight class) and Jewel Diaz (ranked 162 p4p, 130 weight class). Diaz is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Killa Whale - Andre Nickatina. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Juan Corona!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jewel Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, David Schapiro and Anthony Taglia.

Diaz fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Corona avoids it really well and circles away.
Diaz steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Corona.

and Corona counters with a nice uppercut.
Corona throws a right hand that Diaz ducks under and follows up with a left that Diaz also avoids with ease.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Diaz shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Corona is trying to defend but Diaz finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Diaz seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Diaz looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Corona with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Diaz working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Corona really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Diaz takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Diaz lands a nice short elbow.

Corona wants to control the action here but instead Diaz manages to pass to full mount!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Corona's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Diaz closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Corona to the mat! Corona manages to get full guard.

Corona seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Diaz connects with a nice short shot to Corona's temple.

Diaz unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Corona wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Diaz celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jewel Diaz!
Jewel Diaz got down on his knees post fight and begged the management for a title shot. 'Please, I want that title shot so bad! Give it to me!'
