PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mono Loco (ranked 2015 p4p, 3548 weight class) and Henson Benderson (ranked 234 p4p, 359 weight class). Benderson has chosen The Time is Now as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Loco throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Benderson's waist but Benderson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Loco off to one side.

It seemed like Benderson was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
You can see the frustration on Benderson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Loco shoots for a double leg takedown but Benderson sprawls well. He's pushed Loco's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Loco walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Benderson creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Loco jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Benderson walks away with a smile on his face. Loco gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Henson Benderson seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Loco closes this distance looking for a takedown but Benderson circles away.
Benderson throws a front kick aimed at Loco's knee but Loco avoids it well.
Loco needs to keep his hands up - Benderson had a free shot at his head there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Benderson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A nice leg kick from Benderson, right into the meat of the thigh.
Horrible takedown attempt by Loco or perhaps it was just good defense by Benderson, which made it look bad.
Mono Loco seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Loco changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Benderson tries to avoid it but Loco manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Benderson to the ground. Benderson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Benderson! But no joy.

Loco avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Loco shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Benderson but Benderson pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Loco is taking a breather. Benderson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Loco fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Benderson to the ground. Loco is now in Benderson's guard.
