The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Bystrom darts in looking for a takedown but Bright gets double underhooks and turns Bystrom into the ropes.
Bystrom closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Bright quickly recovers to half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Bystrom (2) vs (0) Bright
Bystrom seems to be looking for submissions.
Bright is looking to improve his position.
Bystrom is looking for a kimura but Bright is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bystrom to get the leverage.
Bystrom has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Bystrom is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Bright doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bystrom.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Bright has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Bystrom has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Bystrom is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Bright gets his way!
Bright has the hooks in. Bystrom is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Bystrom sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
