Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ran Ran (ranked 1727 p4p, 790 weight class) and Massi Vass (ranked 216 p4p, 102 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ran Ran!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Massi Vass!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Daniel Franklin and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vass misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Ran misses with a jab, cross combination.

Ran gets caught napping as Vass dives in and scores a takedown. Ran manages to retain guard.
Ran is wriggling around but Vass manages to pass to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vass keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Vass's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vass missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vass is taking a breather. Ran says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Vass is working for a submission of some sort.
Vass not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Vass works his way into side control.
Vass working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ran is trying to escape the position but Vass is controlling the position.
It looks like Vass might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Vass working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Vass moves into full mount!

Vass looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Vass controlling the position easily from mount.
Ran knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vass on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Vass looking to ground and pound but Ran is blocking nicely.
Vass controlling the pace for now.
Vass breaks from Ran's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ran is in a horrible position here. Vass smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Vass scoring with strikes but Ran is staying in there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Massi Vass dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Vass gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Ran counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Ran takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Vass tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ran manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Ran swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Vass misses with a hook
enabling Ran to counter with a crisp jab.
Ran looks to throw the jab but Vass is out of range.
And Vass tries to counter it with a takedown but Ran pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Ran connects with a body shot.
Vass shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ran as he jumps to the side.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ran swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Vass has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ran looks to land a right hand but Vass moved out of range.
Nice jab there from Ran.
Ran lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Vass is rocked!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vass goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Vass is still on wobbly legs! Can Ran finish him?
Ran lands a jab to Vass's midsection.
Vass leaves his chin hanging out and Ran seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Vass crumbles to the floor in a heap, and the referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:13 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ran Ran!
Ran Ran decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
